Roles and Permissions

This article will review the different roles available for Income Lab users and the permissions you get with each role.

Firm Admin

Each account with Income Lab must have at least one Firm Admin. Firm Admins have all of the powers of an Advisor but can manage the firm’s Income Lab subscription in the following ways.

  • Change the number and nature of the seats for the account
  • Invite new users
  • Create and edit groups
  • Can access all households and assign/reassign any household added to the firm account to any member of the firm account
  • Control the Global Settings (Billing, Report Templates, Default Values, CMAs, Tax Assumptions, etc.)

Advisor 

The Advisor role is the primary and most common user role on the Income Lab application. Users with this role have access to the following.

  • Create and edit households and plans
  • Invite clients to the client portal and control client portal access
  • Manage the integration links that they can use for their own groups

Support Staff

The Support Staff role is analogous to the Advisor role, but is intended for firm personnel who do not lead client engagements or have their own clients, and who instead support advisors in their work. Common job titles for those with Support Staff accounts include Client Support Associate, Assistant, and Paraplanner.
