Redtail - How to integrate

This article will walk through how to set up the Income Lab integration with Redtail.

Last published on: March 17, 2026

➡️ Important Note

Existing users can add the "New" Redtail integration to import households from Redtail. Any existing households already in Income Lab or any households without the minimum required fields cannot be imported. You should be able to import a household from any Redtail contact with a name defined, except those categorized as "Business Relationship" (often generated automatically by the CRM when setting an employer). If the contact is part of a Family, the imported household will have all accounts/assets of the head contact and spouse from that family.

Step 1: Initiate the Integration

  1. Select your profile in the top right side of the screen, then click Integrations.

  1. Click Add Integration.

  1. Select the New Redtail logo from the window, then click Link.

  1. Carefully read the integration instructions, then click Activate Integration.

  1. Name the integration Redtail and enter your username and password.

⚠️ CRITICAL STEP - GROUP OR SHARED PERMISSIONS USERS ONLY

After the integration is linked, Enterprise users will need to open the 3-dot icon next to the integration, then click Edit Permissions to select which group(s) will have permission to access the integration.

Step 2: Add Linked Accounts

  1. Once the integration is linked, go to the main Households page, select a household or click Import Household, to import full household data into Income Lab.

🎯 Important Note

Any existing households already in Income Lab or any households without the minimum required fields cannot be imported.

  1. After you select a specific household, edit it by clicking the pencil icon at the top right of your Income Plan.

  1. On the Assets page, click Add Linked Accounts.

🎯 Important Note

If you've already imported households, you do not need to follow the additional steps below. The household import will automatically bring the investment accounts into Income Lab.

  1. On the left side, select the Source as Redtail, use the search bar to find your household, use the drop-down menu to open and show all accounts, then select the accounts you would like to link to Income Lab. Then click Save to finish.

You will now see the accounts linked under the assets list. The linked accounts will be indicated by the retail logo.

Redtail Model Allocations

The Redtail integration does allow asset allocation to be mapped into Income Lab. However, asset allocations must match the asset classes available in Income Lab. Any assets with custom asset classes or asset classes not found in Income Lab will be defaulted to a 60/40 allocation using Income Lab’s “Risk-Based Defaults”. If an account in Redtail has at least one incomplete or unknown asset, the asset allocation will also use Income Lab’s “Risk-Based Defaults”.

See below the mapping table of the asset classes in Redtail and how they will be referenced to the asset classes available in Income Lab.

Editing Assets in a Redtail Account

If the allocation from Redtail is not coming over into Income Lab, you can delete the account in Income Lab, follow the steps below to update the asset allocation in Redtail, then try relinking the account on the Assets page of the household in Income Lab.

  1. Log in
  2. Open a contact
  3. Click on Accounts
  4. Click on any account or in Add account
  5. Click on Account Assets - Add
  6. Complete Name, Shares, Amount and Select the Asset Type
